What we’ll cover
Confident Expression: making Icelandic work for you.
Focus: It’s time to make Icelandic work for you. We expand your toolkit to master the past tense. You will move beyond the “here and now” by learning Past Simple and Present Perfect constructions (hafa + past participle) to share your journey to Iceland and your life experiences.
We also tackle one of the “Big Bosses” of Icelandic: the entire four-case system, giving you the confidence to use the right endings in any situation. From navigating the housing market and job interviews to asking a colleague for a favor using polite requests, our characters Monika and Ásgeir provide the practical dialogues you need to navigate Icelandic systems independently.
Learner Outcome: By the end of this course, you can:
- Master Temporal Precision: Distinguish between specific events and habitual routines using advanced time markers like í kvöld vs. á kvöldin, á mánudaginn vs. á mánudögum.
- Market Yourself: Describe your professional strengths and skills to participate in a basic job interview.
- Share Your Story: Use the past tense to talk about your personal and work history, experiences, and how you ended up in Iceland.
- Evaluate Your Environment: Express opinions on what you like or dislike about specific aspects of Icelandic life and culture.
Target Skill: Professional agency and structural mastery.
