What we’ll cover
Master the basics!
This foundational course gives you the essential 350 words and core grammar you need to survive. You’ll learn gender recognition, definiteness, nominative and accusative cases and the present tense in the first and second person (all about you!).
You will learn greetings, filler words for flow, vocabulary about family, people, professions, food and household items.
Learner Outcome: By the end, you’ll be able to introduce yourself and share basic personal information, hold short, predictable conversations, and interact in basic service situations (like ordering coffee or shopping). You will also be able to talk about your daily routine.
Target Skill: Basic survival communication, whilst setting the foundation of your Icelandic language learning to go on to level 2 (A1.2).

Really cool to be one of the first users to test Icelandic AI out, and this level was really thorough. The videos are really good and provide interactive quizzes that really immersed me in, with the storyline of Monika and Ásgeir a very clever touch. The balance is just right with lessons, practices, quizzes, flashcards, and good humour throughout. Looking forward to level 2.
