We’re here to answer your Q’s.
Yes, in most cases, absolutely.
Most Icelandic unions reimburse 75-90% of the cost of Icelandic language courses. If you’ve been a member of your union for at least six consecutive months, you’re usually eligible for support. The only catch? Every union has its own rules, so it’s worth dropping them a quick message to confirm if you’re unsure.
It really depends on your pace and commitment, which is the true beauty of a digital course. Some learners move quickly, others prefer a steady rhythm. After your first course, you’ll see your exact learning time, since we track it for all users in your dashboard. For most people, around 4 weeks is the sweet spot. It gives you enough time to let the language sink in without rushing. Go at your own pace where you learn best and trust the process.
No, this isn’t a live class. All course modules are fully on-demand, so you can learn whenever it fits your schedule. If you want to power through a course in a week, go for it; if you prefer a slower pace, that works too. We’ll host live webinars occasionally, but those are mainly for showcasing new features and upcoming courses.
You can’t chat directly with Sandra’s AI twin (at least not yet). But she does guide you through exercises, tests, interactive video quizzes, and the full Icelandic AI story featuring our two main characters (Ásgeir og Monika). If you need real human help, you can always message us in the community or send an email. We’ll do our best to get back to you quickly.
Within the community section, you can tag ‘Icelandic AI’ just like how you would on Facebook and Sandra be monitoring this daily to help you out with her real human brain (during non-crazy hours, of course).
All courses are currently priced in Icelandic króna (ISK) since most of our learners are based in Iceland, and well, we’re an Icelandic company, so it checks out. If you’d prefer to pay in another currency, just send us a message. If there’s enough demand, we’ll happily add more currency options.
Learning Icelandic shouldn’t feel outdated, inconvenient, or hit-and-miss. And, yet, most options still are. Icelandic AI changes that. Our courses are fully digital, always available, never cancelled, and built to fit your schedule. They cover everything you actually need to learn: speaking, reading, writing, and listening, following the full CEFR framework so you always understand what you’re learning and exactly where you are in the journey. All content is created by Sandra, an experienced Icelandic teacher who’s taught for years at top institutions. No shortcuts, no gimmicky apps, no Google-Translate-in-disguise, just high-quality, human-made learning designed to give you real, measurable progress across all language skills. If the market needed an upgrade, this is it.
Yes, you can practice speaking and pronunciation throughout the courses. Our tools give you instant feedback on the words you’re nailing and the ones that need more work. You’ll also get a range of speaking exercises that go beyond simple repetition, helping you track real progress and build confidence. It’s all part of making sure no part of your Icelandic learning gets left behind.
Absolutely not. This isn’t some AI shortcut to learning Icelandic. While plenty of courses promise a magic fix, we haven’t seen one that actually delivers. We use smart tech to enhance the learning experience and make adding different language versions much easier, but the course itself is built the real ‘old-fashioned’ way.
Every lesson, every tool, and every part of the platform is created, checked, and refined by our team, powered by caffeine, an unreasonable amount of dedication burning the midnight oil (regularly to 3am), and the occasional bout of imposter syndrome where Chris has even used Jurgen Klopp quotes for inspiration (seriously). The backend uses AI to support the experience, but the teaching, structure, and content are 100 percent human made. And yes, all course translations are done by real locals with linguistic expertise (no rando’s, we promise), not machine shortcuts (we see that enough in other places. Just saying, naming no names).
Right now, we’re focused on completing Levels 1 to 4 (A1.1 to A2.2) in English, with the full set planned for May 2026. Once those are finished, we’ll move straight into translating the entire curriculum into Polish, Russian, and Croatian. After the translations are live, we’ll begin building the more advanced levels. These take time, care, and a lot of linguistic heavy lifting, so they’ll roll out gradually. We’ll release everything in stages and keep you updated as we go.
Yes, absolutely. Our plan includes creating Levels 5 and 6 (B1.1 & B1.2) and translating them into Polish, Russian, and Croatian. If you want another language added, send us a message and we’ll look into adding it to the roadmap. For now, we don’t plan to build Level 7 (B2.1) and above, as those levels benefit much more from real interaction and immersion. That said, we’ll be exploring new solutions later in 2026 to see how far we can take Icelandic AI (we have some ideas…).
Yes. Just visit our companies pages, fill out the form, and we’ll get in touch. Our B2B offering gives companies and unions their own dashboard where they can manage licences and assign access to employees or members as needed. If you’re learning through work, it’s definitely worth letting your employer know about this option.
Your invoice will automatically be sent in a separate email to the order confirmation, titled Reikningur. It will be attached as a PDF which you can keep for your records or forward on to your union etc.
Not at the moment. Icelandic AI is built for focused learning, so we recommend using a laptop, desktop, or tablet. It works on mobile too, but the experience is generally better on a larger screen. We may introduce a downloadable app in 2026 if there’s strong demand for it.
That said, if you log in on your phone, you can save Icelandic AI to your home screen where it behaves like a normal app using Progressive Web App (PWA) technology. This allows you to open it instantly, stay logged in, and use it in full-screen mode (better in Android) without needing to go through your browser each time.
If you’re using an iPhone, you’ll need to open Icelandic AI in Safari, tap the Share icon, and select “Add to Home Screen.” On Android, this works even more seamlessly: simply open Icelandic AI in Chrome and choose “Add to Home Screen” when prompted or from the browser menu.
Once added, Icelandic AI will appear on your phone like a regular app, making it quick and convenient to continue your learning anytime. It works app-solutely fine.
100% yes, and we say that with confidence.
Many of our early learners had already studied Icelandic up to Level 4 (A2.2). While some content was familiar, they told us Icelandic AI helped them finally understand the grammar and logic behind the language, areas that are often rushed in traditional courses.
The ability to revisit lessons anytime is a game changer. Spending just 10 focused minutes reinforcing a concept can turn confusion into clarity.
Icelandic courses also vary widely between schools, which often creates gaps. Icelandic AI provides a clear and consistent curriculum from the ground up, allowing you to strengthen your foundation and revisit anything until it fully makes sense.
Yes. Vinnumálastofnun (VMST) has confirmed that foreign job seekers registered with them can apply for a study grant for Icelandic AI courses.
If your application is approved, you may receive reimbursement through your allocated study grant. The exact amount depends on your individual entitlement and is determined by VMST.
Importantly, unlike traditional language school courses, there is no requirement to submit attendance or meet minimum attendance thresholds for Icelandic AI courses. This means you can complete the course fully on your own schedule without additional reporting.
The process is straightforward:
Step 1: Purchase your course
Step 2: Complete the VMST study grant application
Step 3: Submit your proof of purchase
