What we’ll cover
Active Participation: Navigating Icelandic life independently.
Focus: You are now moving from confident expression to true independence. This course focuses on navigating Icelandic life independently. We tackle high-stakes scenarios like the housing market, as well as talk about our preferences in films, books, music, etc.
To support this autonomy of expression, we introduce the subjunctive mood for opinion forming, and the passive voice so you can understand and use formal or official language. You will also explore conditional structures (“ef” clauses) and advanced conjunctions like á meðan and áður en, allowing you to problem-solve and handle unexpected situations with ease. Our characters Monika and Ásgeir return to guide you through complex dialogues about school systems, workplaces and more.
Learner Outcome: By the end of this course, you can:
- Handle complex services: Manage rental agreements, and educational inquiries independently.
- Problem-solve in real-time: Handle unexpected situations and justify your opinions on everyday topics during discussions.
- Navigate the news: Understand some idiomatic expressions and simple media language.
- Communicate (in)formally: Recognize and use stylistic variations between speaking to a friend vs. communicating with a formal entity.
Target Skill: Independent problem-solving and social integration.

Confident Expression: making Icelandic work for you.
Focus: It’s time to make Icelandic work for you. We expand your toolkit to master the past tense. You will move beyond the “here and now” by learning Past Simple and Present Perfect constructions (hafa + past participle) to share your journey to Iceland and your life experiences.
We also tackle one of the “Big Bosses” of Icelandic: the entire four-case system, giving you the confidence to use the right endings in any situation. From navigating the housing market and job interviews to asking a colleague for a favor using polite requests, our characters Monika and Ásgeir provide the practical dialogues you need to navigate Icelandic systems independently.
Learner Outcome: By the end of this course, you can:
- Master Temporal Precision: Distinguish between specific events and habitual routines using advanced time markers like í kvöld vs. á kvöldin, á mánudaginn vs. á mánudögum.
- Market Yourself: Describe your professional strengths and skills to participate in a basic job interview.
- Share Your Story: Use the past tense to talk about your personal and work history, experiences, and how you ended up in Iceland.
- Evaluate Your Environment: Express opinions on what you like or dislike about specific aspects of Icelandic life and culture.

Start communicating what you really want and need.
Focus: You’re building the engine! We expand your vocabulary significantly to include weather expressions, hobbies, chores, services, and health. Grammatically, you’ll tackle modal verbs (þurfa, langa, vilja, mega, skulu) and locative adverbs (heima/heim, inni/inn, úti/út), turning simple phrases into flowing sentences.
You will also master all five conjugation patterns of the Present Simple. We will learn how to navigate past, present and future in simple terms.
Learner Outcome: You can now express likes, dislikes, and simple opinions, handle all appointment bookings, and ask follow-up questions to keep the chat going.
Target Skill: Opinion expression and temporal variety.

I was really intrigued to test this out but skeptical reading ‘ai’ in the brand name. I was completely wrong, the courses are led by Sandra in a really visually stimulating way, with lots of depth, a storyline with Monika and Ásgeir (very relatable), and so many exercises and practices to complete. Learner Outcome: By the end, you’ll be able to introduce yourself and share basic personal information, hold short, predictable conversations, and interact in basic service situations (like ordering coffee or shopping). You will also be able to talk about your daily routine.

Really cool to be one of the first users to test Icelandic AI out, and this level was really thorough. The videos are really good and provide interactive quizzes that really immersed me in, with the storyline of Monika and Ásgeir a very clever touch.
